Thanksgiving Cake Pops
I have unintentionally become the cake pop lady at our family gatherings. I didn't plan on making any for Thanksgiving, and to be perfectly honest, they weren't even a thought in my mind. I've only made them three times before but I guess they're a big hit now. They're pretty easy to make after the first few times so when I got the ever-so-subtle request from my cousin, I just couldn't resist.
His request:
"I wouldn't be mad if you brought some of those cake on a stick things for Thanksgiving."
Who could say no to that!
I went really simple with the inside this time by using a box of chocolate cake mix and a can of pre-made chocolate frosting. I know, I know...I'm usually all about homemade, but sometimes you just don't have the time or resources. I stocked up on some cake mix and frosting when it was on sale at the store so I had everything I needed with minimal effort. Not too shabby if you ask me! As for the decorations, I just used fall colored candy coating. I dipped the whole pop in various colors and used a zip-top baggie with a tiny hole cut off one corner as a piping bag to drizzle a contrasting color. I'm happy with how they turned out and even happier with how they tasted.
