Basic - But Awesome - Steak Marinade

I'm one of those people who are always on a mission to make things better. Some are content to just leave things as they are, but not me. There is usually a better way to get a better result and I don't stop until I find it. This applies to pretty much everything in my life - especially food.

Creating the perfect marinade for steak was one of those things that I've always strived to make better. I guess you could say it was constantly on my to do list. Well, after countless attempts - over countless years - I have finally combined the right types of ingredients to make a steak that is pumped full of flavor without being overwhelming. It's savory with a hint of sweet and just the right amount of tang. It's a general marinade so it will go with pretty much anything, too. It's now my go-to marinade so I'm calling this project done!

Basic Steak Marinade

1 steak of choice

1 TB fresh parsley
1/4 tsp smoked paprika
1/4 c olive oil
2 TB lemon juice
1 TB soy sauce
1/2 TB worcestershire sauce
1 tsp brown sugar
1 garlic clove, minced
1/4 tsp pepper

1. Put everything in a zip-top bag and let marinate for 1 to 1 1/2 hours. (Don't go over 1 1/2 hours or the acidic ingredients will actually start to deteriorate the meat.)
2. Prepare your steak as desired.
